OpenAI has released a ChatGPT sidebar for Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets that turns natural-language prompts into live spreadsheet operations.
The add-on can build entire workbooks from a brief, generate and explain formulas, clean messy data (deduping, parsing dates, standardizing values), and run scenario and sensitivity analyses against existing models.
Under the hood it runs on GPT-5.5, OpenAI's newest reasoning model. Enterprise customers get the integration first, with rollout to Plus and Team subscribers planned over the coming weeks.
