Claude can now directly control your Mac — mouse, keyboard, browser, screen reading. The feature works in both Cowork and Claude Code, falling back to direct cursor and keyboard control when no connector exists. It works, but it's currently very slow — a 10-second manual task might take 5 minutes with Claude at the helm.
The real unlock is Dispatch, launched March 17 for Max plan subscribers. It lets you pair your phone with your Mac via QR code, then text Claude instructions from anywhere and it executes them on your desktop. Need to rename 200 files while you're at lunch? Text Claude from your phone and it handles it.
The combination transforms Claude from a chat assistant into a genuine remote worker. You can queue up tasks, check progress from mobile, and let Claude grind through tedious desktop work while you're away.
Anthropic positioned Computer Use as the bridge between AI chat and AI action — the moment Claude stops just suggesting what to do and starts actually doing it. Speed improvements are expected in coming updates.
