Anthropic has released Claude for Small Business, a toggle install through Claude Cowork that connects Claude to QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, and Docusign. It targets small business owners who represent 44% of U.S. GDP but have lagged in AI adoption.
It ships with 15 agentic workflows across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service, plus 15 task-specific skills. Users approve every action before anything sends, posts, or pays, and existing tool permissions carry over. PayPal handles settlements and invoicing; QuickBooks covers payroll planning and monthly close; HubSpot runs lead triage and campaigns. Anthropic partnered with PayPal on a free AI Fluency course taught by small business owners, and a 10-city SMB tour starts May 14 in Chicago with hands-on workshops and a free month of Claude Max per attendee.
Every AI company sells to developers or enterprises. Anthropic is showing up in person at small business workshops in ten cities — not a product launch but a ground game. Forty-four percent of U.S. GDP runs through businesses that still do payroll in spreadsheets, and the company that teaches them AI first owns that relationship permanently.
