GitHub has launched a beta certification for agentic AI developers, formalizing a skill set that has so far been learned on the job.
The exam tests expertise in deploying, governing, and orchestrating AI agents within production software development lifecycle workflows, and costs $165 through Pearson VUE. By certifying agent orchestration as a distinct competency — separate from general software engineering — GitHub is signaling that running agents in production is becoming a hiring criterion, not a side experiment.
