OpenAI released ChatGPT for PowerPoint, a beta add-in that works directly inside Microsoft's presentation software. Users can create slides, edit existing decks, and turn source files into presentation-ready content using plain language.

The add-in builds slides from notes, docs, spreadsheets, prompts, or an existing deck, keeping output editable in PowerPoint. It can rewrite content, tighten hierarchy, add sections, and polish drafts on command. ChatGPT reads deck structure and can summarize a presentation's story or flag where the narrative is weak. It works inside PowerPoint and preserves editable slide content rather than exporting static files. Gmail, Outlook, and SharePoint integrations let it pull data and context into the side panel.

The add-in is available in beta globally for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, Teachers, K-12, plus Free, Go, Pro, and Plus users. Installation is via Home > Add-ins in PowerPoint, then sign in with an OpenAI account.

OpenAI just put a competing product inside its biggest investor's software. Microsoft built Copilot into PowerPoint. Now ChatGPT sits one tab over. Every user who picks ChatGPT over Copilot inside Microsoft's own app is proving that owning the surface no longer means owning the AI layer.
