Oracle's AI data center revenue nearly doubled in the most recent quarter, reaching $5.8 billion as demand for AI infrastructure continues to accelerate. The results highlight the growing scale of enterprise AI deployment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
However, the growth came at a significant cost. Capital expenditures for AI data center expansion also rose sharply, with Oracle spending $55.7 billion on data centers over the fiscal year and planning to raise an additional $40 billion. The spending reflects the intense capital requirements of competing in the AI infrastructure market alongside hyperscalers like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.
The results come on the same day Oracle and OpenAI announced a partnership allowing enterprise customers to access OpenAI models through Oracle Universal Credits. The pairing of strong AI revenue growth with the OpenAI integration suggests Oracle is positioning itself as a major player in enterprise AI infrastructure.
Analysts note that while revenue growth is impressive, the capital intensity of AI data center buildouts means profitability improvements may lag. Oracle's bet is that once the infrastructure is in place, recurring AI workloads will generate high-margin revenue over time.
