xAI has published its May 15 update to X's open-source For You algorithm on GitHub, expanding the repository from reference code into something runnable.
The update adds a full end-to-end inference pipeline, a downloadable pre-trained mini Phoenix model, and a new content-understanding module that scores posts on signals beyond engagement. Releasing a working model and pipeline — not just the ranking heuristics — lets outside researchers actually reproduce how the feed ranks content, raising the bar for what 'open-source algorithm' means among large social platforms.
