xAI has released Grok Build in early beta, a CLI coding agent for SuperGrok Heavy subscribers. It installs with a single curl command and targets professional software engineering workflows.
Plan mode lets developers review and approve step-by-step execution plans before any code changes are made. Subagents run tasks in parallel with deep worktree integrations, each operating in its own isolated worktree. The CLI auto-detects existing AGENTS.md files, plugins, hooks, skills, and MCP servers in your repo, and a plugin marketplace provides installable tools with exposed skills and slash commands. A headless mode (-p) supports scripting and automation with full ACP compatibility for custom agent orchestration.
Claude Code, Cursor, and Gemini CLI all run one agent at a time. Grok Build launches multiple agents across isolated worktrees simultaneously — a different architecture, not a feature increment. But serious engineers are the hardest users to switch, so xAI has to prove parallel execution matters enough to break habits developers have been building for over a year.
